Effective Pest Control Solutions

Spider Control

Spiders are amazing creatures and play a vital role in nature — but they don’t belong in your home. In Olympia and the communities in Thurston County, we see many types of spiders throughout the year. Some are harmless, while others can be unsettling or even risky to have around, especially if you have pets or kids.

At Spectrum Pest Management, we help you identify what kind of spider problem you’re dealing with and come up with a smart, environmentally friendly plan to deal with it.

We don’t just spray for spiders. We investigate and take time to understand what’s going on, how spiders are getting inside, and how to keep them out for good.

Common Spiders in Our Area

If you live in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, or anywhere in Thurston County, you’ve probably seen some of these spiders:

  • Giant House Spiders – Large, fast-moving, and scary-looking, but not dangerous. These are the most common indoor spiders in our area. They love basements!
  • Hobo Spiders – Often confused with the brown recluse (which doesn’t live here), hobo spiders tend to stay near the ground and can sometimes bite if provoked.
  • Cellar Spiders (Daddy Long Legs) – Thin-legged and often found in basements or garages. These are harmless but can multiply quickly.
  • Orb Weavers – Outdoor spiders that build big, round webs in gardens or between trees and fences. Mostly harmless and helpful, but their webs can be a nuisance.

While most spiders that live near us aren’t dangerous, they still cause stress and anxiety for many — especially if you have a fear of spiders.

Our Approach to Spider Control

At Spectrum, we believe in spider control that is holistic and preventive. That means we inspect your home to look for hiding spots, webbing, egg sacs, and entry points. Spiders often get in through small cracks around windows, doors, or crawlspaces. We take a good look in crawlspaces and attics to ensure they’re venting correctly and discouraging the conditions spiders love.

We focus on sealing up the areas where spiders and insects are sneaking in. This is the most important step in long-term spider control. Once the home is sealed, we create a treatment plan that may include eco-friendly products, web removal, and recommendations for things you can do to keep spiders away, like keeping vegetation near your home trimmed or cleaning out cluttered areas. For example, hedges and vegetation too close to your home can harbor insects and spider food sources. We’ll show you where these points are and recommend the appropriate treatment.
